This video is worth a watch.
It is difficult to explain to my family and friends the numbers involved in prognosis and treatment options around melanoma. I’m sure many other young adults with cancer go through a similar Q&A throughout their treatment.
I now had a very big decision weighing on my shoulders. I was not qualified for any trial that I knew of, so I was now responsible to choose my next steps in therapy.
There was news of another trial that I may qualify for so we picked up our lives and moved cities!
The next option that was offered to me was local radiation to the inguinal (groin) region where my lymph nodes came out.
It was late April and I was now officially NED (no evidence of disease). The chance of the melanoma coming back is very high. I met with my oncologist to discuss adjuvant therapy as a means to hopefully get rid of any microscopic melanoma.
